How to play

Got your invite? Here's what to do first, from your own space to a plot of your own.

Tavi: Take your time. Your space isn't going anywhere.

  1. Look around your space

You start in your home space, 48 by 48 tiles, with a little beach you can move or clear away. Nobody else can come in until you open its gate, so try anything. Click or tap somewhere to walk there.

    Your space

A new player's home space: a small sandy beach with a palm and a shell in a blue lagoon, and a ghost standing on the violet gate where they arrive.
  2. Open your bag

Everything you make or take from the Market is in your bag, once. Drag a thing out onto the ground to put it down; it stays in your bag, so put it down as often as you like. Click one in the world to pick it up.

    Your bag

The BAG window with All, Things, Tools and Blueprints down the side, showing a worn character, cabin pieces, trees, garden things, a land flag, a waygate, a bucket and a blank blueprint.
  3. Make something in the Studio

Take a blueprint from the Market's STUDIO aisle. It's free, like everything in Eggox. Open it and the Studio appears: stack little cubes, paint them, turn them round, draw frames to make them move. Save it and it's in your bag, ready to wear or put down.

    The Studio guide

The MARKET window on the Studio aisle: a blueprint and an experience, each with a Take key.
  4. Check your age, once

To meet everyone, you check your age once. It's free. Tell us where you're from: in Denmark, and soon in every EU country, your official age app answers for you, fully anonymous. It only tells us you're 18 or over. Everywhere else, our partner Didit looks at your ID and a quick selfie, about a minute, and we only learn one thing: 18 or not.

    More about the check

THE WORLD window in a new player's home space, set to Denmark, showing an AltID code to scan and a link to use a photo ID instead.
  5. Say hi at the quay

Open GO SOMEWHERE and pick the spawn quay: that's where everyone arrives. Type to chat and your words pop up over your head. Click someone to add them as a friend.

    Friends and messages

A crowd of players on the square in the arrival town, some dancing, waving and cheering, with chat bubbles saying PIP!! over here, this town is so cozy, and race you to the café?
  6. Go exploring

GO SOMEWHERE lists the places people have made, busiest first, and how many are there. Pick one and you're there. Or just start walking: the world goes on for a very long way.

    How GO SOMEWHERE works

The GO SOMEWHERE window on its All tab, listing the spawn quay, Colour Clash, Pip's cabin, Ninja Skybound, quayside gardens, Fern's space, The Last Lighthouse and Bo's space, beside a garden plot.
  7. Claim some land

Found a spot you like outside the arrival town? Take a land claim flag from the Market, free, and put it down. The 11 by 11 square around it is yours to build on, for as long as you want it. It's one plot each, with room for 10,000 things.

    The land guide

A claimed plot beside Main Street with a little log cabin, a birch and a fir, flower planters, a picnic table, a gingham blanket and a split-rail fence, its claim flag in the middle and Pip waving on the lawn.

Pip: That's it. See you at the quay!
